Hi! My name is Courtney. I am currently a sophomore at River Dell High School. I spent my years growing up in the suburbs in New Jersey, where I go to school and where I go to church. I think that I have lead a very blessed, sheltered life here. In church, I serve on the worship team, create body worship routines, and am the head of the caring committee. In River Dell, I’ve immersed myself in the music program, joining every group from select choir to marching band to the spring musical! This summer, I will be stepping out of my comfort zone to reach out to others. This July, I will be going to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota to serve God as part of a short term mission trip.
At Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, I will be spending 2 days running a VBS program and 2 days helping the elderly winterize their homes. Going on this trip means a lot to me because I feel like someone so small, can make a little change in this huge world, which in turn can turn into a big chain. I’ve often heard of the phrase “a link in the chain” and I know that God is planning to use all 10 of us to be links in his big chain.
I never thought that I would have to prepare for cranky children, or showers of insects pouring down from old ceilings or a spiritual battle. But I say that all of this is worth it to be able to go change something. I might not be able to change the world in 7 days, but I can make a little difference in someone’s life.
